Community Letter Regarding Board Action to Terminate Forty Niners Stadium Manager
September 24, 2019
Dear Santa Clara Community,
Last week, the Santa Clara Stadium Authority (Stadium Authority) terminated an agreement that enables the Forty Niners Management Company (Forty Niners) to manage non-football entertainment events at Levi’s® Stadium on behalf of the Stadium Authority. The termination is scheduled to take effect on Nov. 15, 2019. In response, the Forty Niners filed a lawsuit in the Santa Clara Superior Court to block the termination.
The Stadium Authority’s termination of the management agreement is necessary, proper and legal under California state law and under the management agreement.
The Stadium Authority and the City of Santa Clara is pleased that the Forty Niners have decided that the public forum of California Superior Court is the appropriate place to resolve this dispute, rather than private arbitration. This transparent legal process affords the residents of Santa Clara, and other interested parties, an opportunity to learn why the Stadium Authority has terminated the contract and come to their own informed conclusions.
