The City has hired Berkeley-based consultant MIG, Inc. to produce a Specific Plan for the Freedom Circle area in northern Santa Clara, which will establish allowable uses, density requirements, and design guidelines for a new, high-density mixed-use community. Although this area was long envisioned to remain a commercial center that combines office and industrial uses, significant redevelopment interest has provided impetus for the City to explore a range of potential land use alternatives in fulfillment of citywide goals and policies.
The planning process comprises a collaborative effort between the City, the MIG Team, and the broader Santa Clara community. In the coming project phases, the MIG Team will host several community workshops in which members of the general public can help refine the vision for the Specific Plan to ensure that it aligns with their goals and interests.
Upcoming public hearings/community meetings: to be announced
- 4/9/19 - City Council Study Session on objectives for the City North Vision Plan; Presentation
- 2/25/19 - Community Workshop #1 was held at City Hall Council Chambers; Event Summary
