For sewer problems such as slow drainage, back-ups, bad smells, etc., call the City first, (weekdays 8 am - 5 pm) at (408) 615-2000. After hours and weekends, call (408) 615-5640. Many times, the problem can be resolved without contacting a private plumber if the resident has a City Sewer Lateral Cleanout. There is no charge for a City response.
Installation Services & Fees

The City collects a one-time sewer connection fee. For information regarding new sewer laterals and mains, contact the City Public Works Department Land and Property Development Division at (408) 615-3000.
A cleanout is a one-way access point, installed at the City's right-of-way, usually located a few feet behind the sidewalk. There is a one time installation charge of:
- $1,326 for installation on a 4 inch lateral
- $6,565 for installation on a lateral 6 inches or larger
- $207 Cleanout box only

Sewer lateral video inspection fee is $278.
Sanitary Sewer utility field marking -- $111 for the first 50 feet and for each additional 50 feet or fraction thereof of excavation.
Wastewater Treatment Plant Capacity fee (Residential) -- $1,187 per dwelling unit
Wastewater Treatment Plant Capacity fee (Non-Residential) -- $4.47 per gallon per day
